Player Highlight: Sami Uraz

From SC Academy to Queen’s University

SC Academy is proud to celebrate the continued success of Sami Uraz, a 6’5″ guard whose basketball journey reflects the dedication, growth, and perseverance that define our program.

Sami began his development with SC Academy, where he quickly established himself as one of the premier players in his age group. As a junior athlete, he consistently dominated the competition with his size, versatility, and high basketball IQ. His commitment to improving every day allowed him to elevate his game year after year, becoming a leader both on and off the court.

Following his time with SC Academy, Sami continued his basketball career at Crestwood Preparatory College in Ontario, where he spent two successful seasons competing against some of the country’s top prep talent. During his time at Crestwood, he continued to refine his skill set, mature as a player, and prepare himself for the next level.

Those efforts have paid off.

On April 14, 2026, Sami officially committed to the Queen’s University Gaels Men’s Basketball program, marking a significant milestone in his basketball journey and the beginning of an exciting new chapter.

Sami’s commitment is a testament to the work he has invested over the years and serves as an inspiration to the next generation of SC Academy athletes striving to reach their own goals.

Congratulations, Sami! The entire SC Academy family is proud of your accomplishments and looks forward to following your continued success at Queen’s University.

SC Academy Hosts Inaugural Free Basketball Clinic

Summer 2025

SC Academy proudly hosted its first-ever Free Basketball Clinic for student-athletes in Grades 7–10, bringing together young players from across the community for an evening of learning, competition, and development.

The clinic provided athletes with the opportunity to sharpen their basketball fundamentals, challenge themselves alongside their peers, and gain valuable insight from experienced coaches. More importantly, it reinforced the importance of hard work, coachability, teamwork, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Our hope is that every athlete left with new skills, increased confidence, and lessons they can continue to apply within their school and community basketball programs.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and made the event such a tremendous success. We wish all of the athletes the very best throughout their upcoming seasons and look forward to seeing their continued growth.

Special thanks to Coach Shamar, Coach Omar, and special guest Coach Mully for volunteering their time and sharing their knowledge, passion, and expertise with the next generation of basketball players.
